Tenderloin's the new Hollywood

New, 2 comments

A writer for Governing magazine teases an upcoming piece about Police Chief George Gascón and his battle to clean up the Tenderloin: there are "striking" comparisons here to Gascón's former L.A. stomping grounds (*cough* Skid Row), but mainly Gascón finds a lot of hope in Hollywood. "Back in the late 70s, Hollywood was known mainly for decrepit grandeur, run-away teens, and streetwalkers — streetwalkers by the hundreds." Now it's more like Pier 39 times ten. Worth the tradeoff?
