Fantasies of walking up top the Golden Gate Bridge in a crazy turn at "experiential tourism": dead. The ideas were first floated as a way to bring in more money for the bridge district, and were modeled after an existing program in Sydney. In the end, however, all those tourists walking up and down the bridge's catwalk would have conflicted with construction projects, including a seismic retrofitting and a cable recoating.
