California Home + Design describes a Scooby gang of "Bay Area-based idealists" who are the de facto heads of a new cult what they call "Bay Area Bauhaus ... a new design movement" that breaks down the "formal designer-artist-craftsman barriers." There's plenty of waxing poetic over wood and concrete, but mainly it's a chance to witness the lovefest for Michael McDonald (of Margarido fame) and Scott Lee of SB Architects, among others. In one anecdote, neighbors loved Lee's house designs so much that they mobbed city bureaucrats demanding they allow construction to get a move on. [CH+D]
