A Creek Runs Through It

Part two of Curbed contributor Matt Baume's look into efforts at "daylighting" local waterways is out today, and looks in to efforts to bring Islais and Yosemite Creeks in San Francisco out from underground. The plans wouldn't just help beautify eastern neighborhoods running from Bernal to Bayview, McLaren Park to Candlestick Park, but would also help the SFPUC manage peak runoff that currently stresses the city's aging sewers. The only problem in making the dream into a reality are typical -- expense, rights of way, pollution and who knows what the city's notoriously negative neighbors will say. [Streetsblog]
