Florida's the home of the only "true" high-speed-rail system other than California's to get a slice of the $8 billion federal cake, but the NYT says its awkward planning could ruin high-speed rail's prospects elsewhere. The train would hit downtown Tampa, but not Tampa's airport, and Orlando's airport, but not downtown Orlando — though Disney World will get a stop. 'Course, by the time Florida's finishes in 2015, California will already be well on its way to building out its system. Or so we think. [NYT]
