On the Google Bandwagon

Turns out Gavin's worries about an intransigent Board of Supes were unfounded— they voted unanimously in favor of the city submitting a proposal for Google's gigabit fiber network. The mayor's spokesman sounds confident of our prospects: "We respect the spirit of competition this initiative has inspired, but with respect to other communities, we believe San Francisco already distinguishes itself by the companies and industries that are choosing to locate here, and by our diverse population." We take that to mean Gavin won't be jumping into the bay. [SF Appeal, previously]
