As long as we're on op-eds, the honorable Judge Quentin Kopp says his piece in the Merc today, and says it good. Peninsula cities are raising a ruckus to shut down high-speed rail at San Jose, and just have passengers transfer to and from Caltrain. Kopp, a high speed rail authority board member and former BART director, lays down the cold, hard facts: "... it's disingenuous for opponents to advocate ending the system in San Jose. ... Terminating high-speed rail in San Jose and forcing passengers to transfer to Caltrain is both against the law and the will of the voters. It's also intended to destroy the system." So there.
