Google's floating the idea to hometown Mountain View of allowing homes and retail to be built near its headquarters. Doing so would ostensibly cut the commute for Googlers so that they never have to step off the Googleplex. City officials aren't sold on the idea though — one no-NIMBYs-in-my-backyard guy says that if they built residences, then "inevitably, those people then complain about the next development." [CBS 5]
