The Rincon Hill Neighborhood Association has been looking forward for a few days to a full project presentation of an eight-story affordable housing project headed for Block 11a of the Transbay redevelopment area — otherwise known to us as the empty lot in the southeast corner of Folsom and Essex. The building, designed by Leddy Maytum Stacy Architects and Saida + Sullivan Design Partners, is being developed by Bridge Housing and Community Housing Partnership. According to project documents, the building aspires to help "activate (the) corridor along Folsom" with two retail spaces and "attractive outdoor amenities." On top will be 120 studio and 1-bed apartments. One concern from RHNA prez Jamie: "Folks with little income (are) being placed into an area where its difficult to find lunch for under $10." But, as he says, "it is what it is."
