Henry Alvarez, the San Francisco Housing Authority's executive director, just announced that the agency is embarking on energy-efficient upgrades at all of San Francisco's public housing sites. "SFHA received a $30 million grant from the United States Housing and Urban Development, specifically for energy-efficient programs." 37 housing sites will get new lighting upgrades, plumbing fixtures, boilers, water heaters and furnaces.
