Get Your Art Deco Fix in the Tenderloin

New, 5 comments
This 1-bed, 2-bath, 575 square foot, 16th floor unit at the Hamilton has been on and off the market since 2008. Now it's back with a new asking price: $540,000. Like Curbed mentioned back in September (for a rental unit), the Hamilton's grand lobby and fountain courtyard have been restored to remind you of a different and more grand time. The building features amenities like a 24-hour doorman, roof deck, new gym and coin operated laundry facilities. But does that justify the $946 monthly HOA dues? That's $200 shy of being double the square footage. Doesn't quite calculate correctly, does it? The unit itself unfortunately has a theme consistent with other units in the building: mirrored walls. An easy fix, but noteworthy. Also odd is the addition of a second full bath. At 575 square feet, we're scratching our heads over the need for two full baths for a 1-bedroom unit. Condo highlights include wonderful Art Deco details throughout and a pretty spectacular solarium, something we don't see around these parts very often.
