"I'm not willing to risk all that for high-speed rail," Katz said. Citing the various, more local projects he's involved in, Los Angeles transportation official Richard Katz is stepping down from the state panel overseeing development of California's high-speed rail system. He and another lightning-fast bureaucrat, High-Speed Rail Authority Chairman Curt Pringle, have been under pressure to leave the authority as opponents seek to undermine our ability to go to LA for lunch and be back in time to pick the kids up from school anytime in the near future.
