285 Ellis Gets a Facelift

Earlier this month a Curbed reader asked what the deal was with 285 Ellis in the Tenderloin, which has been undergoing an intense renovation for quite some time. It used to be a ballroom and dancing school, but then the building was bought in 2008 and the ballroom business got evicted. We told them that the upper levels are being converted to residential use. Fancy smancy style. Kind of weird for the location, no? Today we received some photos of the details of the partially-finished exterior. Take a look!
