High-Speed Rail's $2.25B Richer

New, 3 comments

We've known for some time that the federal government had socked away $8 billion from its stimulus for high-speed rail. California's ending up with $2.25 billion, about half of the ambitious $4.7 billion the state had actually applied for. Turns out there are a lot more high-speed rail projects ("projects"?) around the country jockeying for cash — but officials said they were OK with the smaller amount, which would go toward the L.A.-Anaheim, Fresno-Bakersfield, Fresno-Merced, and SF-SJ legs.
