Union Street has won the battle against the dreaded bus terminal Muni was planning on installing. After gathering a thousand signatures in opposition to the long-bus terminal and meeting with Muni's top brass, the band of brothers was able to extract a "compromise": the big buses would only run from 5 to 9 a.m. (already the plan, last we checked), and the terminal at Fillmore would be "temporarily abandoned." Translation: abandoned forever. [SF Examiner, previously]
