Oakland Is the New Brooklyn

New, 10 comments

From Curbed's standpoint, it's a pretty big PR barrage when we're getting three emails a day about the "urban feel of Jack London Square," with the Ellington Condos, local chefs and hotelier Joie de Vivre teaming up for a perfect storm of something. Turns out that something is this: "artisan food, old warehouses and a perfect climate make Oakland the New Brooklyn." Pardon us if we find the comparison to be bold, if not just a bit sassy— but then again the NYT just last year pondered aloud which San Francisco neighborhood most resembled the gritty hipster borough. Turns out they were looking in the wrong place. It's Oakland. [Curbed Inbox, previously]
