Market/Buchanan's in the Doghouse

New, 10 comments

More drama for 1960 Market St, whose developer is locking horns with labor over the 115-unit project. The Market/Buchanan building, once called a "monster," faces this issue at the Board of Supes today: the building union says the project poses a health risk to the public, what with all the toxic stuff in the dirt— and is demanding a formal environmental impact report. Developer Brian Spiers calls it all a shakedown to get more union labor on the site— 100 percent versus the 70 he said he'd hit. Haggling's no fun, we agree. [City Insider]
