US Army Unloading its Collection of Hammond Organs

New, 5 comments

When the Army moved out of the Presidio in 1994, they left a bunch of junk behind. Some items were explosive, but others were more decorative: claw-foot bathtubs, antique cases, vintage fixtures, custom cabinetry, a "self-rimming" sink, a thermal printer/cutter, and various musical instruments. You know, regular Army-type stuff. And now fifteen years later, the Presidio's finally cleaning out their attic, so now's your chance to own a weird piece of history.

They're holding an auction on Friday, August 28, from 9 am to 3 pm, at the Herbst International Exhibition Hall at the Presidio, 385 Moraga Avenue. You'll have to provide a photo ID and your social security number, lest the military's grand piano fall into the hands of terrorists.
