Burrito Justice has an amazing!!! chronology of tree growth in and around Dolores Park, along with an illustrated guide to some of SF's more popular species. Among their discoveries: palm trees grow agonizingly slowly; we used to have almost no trees at all, and their appearance here is a relatively new phenomenon; and Friends of the Urban Forest does amazing work.
