Some interesting thoughts from readers today— the eminent domain fight over the Hugo Hotel has some arguing that a vacant building "imposes additional costs on other owners in the area. They begin to play the same game, and eventually the area is rife with that type of decay. ... Everyone suffers." Then again, what about private property rights? "...In San Francisco the non-profiteer mafia is so ubiquitous that they can dictate to private property owners what they can and can't do with their buildings."

Then we go to Mission Bay, where we gaze quivering upon a brave new parking structure. An appraisal: "The UCSF campus's primary architectural contribution is a rich collection of parking structures." And how rich it is!
