Mission Loc@l and Mission Mission point out a letter in the Chron that raises a fairly well-tread point — that "it is often the artists and gallery owners who move into low-rent neighborhoods who plant the seeds of gentrification. While the growing number of galleries in the Mission District may be engaging a new audience, high-rent condominiums are being built only blocks away, where bakeries, grocery stores and community centers used to stand." Which leads us to wonder aloud if anything different can be expected of a neighborhood's boom-bust cycle. You know: gritty, hipster, yuppie, chain store, death by boredom, rinse and repeat? [SF Gate]
