Fingers Crossed for Train Cash

New, 5 comments

A lot of the fuss over the Transbay Transit Center's construction has had to do with the crucial, below-grade "train box"— when it'd be built, who's going to pay for it, what have you. Problem almost solved: get the federal government to foot the bill. In a $1.1 billion application for federal stim cash, California asked for $400 million for the train box alone. The rest would go to "various" intercity rail projects. And! It seems "highly likely" that we're going to get all of that $1.1B. Party train! [CA HSR, previously]
