Ready for your weekly dose of local earthquake paranoia? On Twitter this weekend, San Francisco's Office of Disaster Management considered a Japanese "ninja house" as a means to reduce earthquake danger here in SF. The ninja house, which disappointingly has nothing to do with ninjas, was designed by a nervous housewife with no prior architectural or engineering experience; it features special doors, sprinklers, and balconies that are alleged to make it safer in an earthquake. We'll take our chances with an American-style cowboy house, thank you very much; or maybe an Irish-style leprechaun house.
