The unqualified success of the new plaza at 17th and Castro is turning a few heads, including that of Sarah B at the Richmond SF Blog. "I think something like this would be great for the Richmond District," she writes, and we couldn't agree more -- traffic tends to shoot along those Richmond corridors like Satan himself, and a little calming would go a long way. Sarah proposes opening streets to pedestrians somewhere around Park Presidio, or on Clement. She may be on to something with that Clement idea: with all the jaywalking, vehicular traffic's already so inefficient that we might as well close it to all but buses and delivery trucks.
