In a rare move, the U.S. Green Building Council has given SKS Investments at 1100 Broadway a pre-certification for its unbuilt 20-story office tower. And it's LEED Platinum (nice!). But still, before it's even built? What's going on here, USGBC?
The building will have 310,285 square feet of office space and 9,810 square feet of retail. "Our goal for 1100 Broadway has always been to design and develop a building that will demonstrate how sustainable office buildings are an integral part of our country's effort to combat global warming and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels," said Paul Stein, managing partner with SKS. The building will have the usual bells and whistles: photovoltaic solar panels, glass facades that help with cooling costs and obtaining ultimate day lighting, a fancy HVAC system, a living green roof (booyah!), and a rainwater collection, filtration and reuse system.
