Renter Turns Buyer, But Not Without Help

New, 3 comments

A renter, emboldened a bit by the fall of condo prices in San Francisco, writes about his reluctant journey of self-discovery while buying a condo. "If I gained something akin to the American dream from the American economy going south, I don’t particularly take joy in it." Why not, party pooper? By his account, despite the tax credits and the cheaper prices, it was still cost-prohibitive to buy in this city— his entire family needed to chip in to help him take the leap. In the end, he concludes, "it takes a village to buy a condo." [AlterNet]
