Market Street: Not Entirely Terrible

New, 4 comments

San Francisco can apparently be summed up by taking a quick jaunt down Market Street. SF Gate favorite John King recently went for a stroll down the busy and sometimes decrepit street to see what was happening. Things to notice: there are a lot of flower vendors, mostly because the city has been licensing them since 1904. Big companies who provide public seating on their outdoor property will do whatever it takes to not let skateboarders have any fun. Too many failed attempts of redeveloping Market Street are visually present. We're a broke city, as seen by our many empty storefronts and half developed buildings. But in the end, how absolutely necessary is it for Market Street to be pleasant? [SF Gate]
