Rethinking "Open Space"

New, 8 comments

The city's tweaking its definition of open space in an effort to "think outside the box" on our urban environment. Meaning: not just parks, but street closures and rooftop gardens, pockets tucked here and there that the city's green director says should "offer diversity and different types of open spaces to appeal to many different people." The director, Astrid Haryati, by the way, hails from Chicago, which at least at one point had more rooftop garden acreage than all other U.S. cities combined. [SF Examiner]
