Solar Panels in the Sunset Almost Fully OK'd

New, 6 comments

The Board of Supes will be crossing their fingers for a lot more sun in the Sunset now that they've given preliminary approval to a 5-megawatt solar plant on the roof of the Sunset Reservoir. Local company Recurrent Energy will be in charge of putting together and operating the solar panels, with the city having the option of buying the whole installation at the seven- and 15-year marks. According to the SF Examiner, opponents thought the city might be getting a raw deal based on the terms of the agreement— but no one budged, really, and the solar panels got their thumbs up. Obligatory Chris Daly quote: "Going green doesn’t mean going green stupid." It doesn't?
