Mayor Will Say No to Rent Laws

New, 6 comments

The package of bills meant to increase protections for renters— keeping rates from rising above a third of a tenant's income, for one— is set to get a veto from the Gav. On the record: "You have the unintended consequence of landlords only renting to very wealthy people. That is not good public policy." Which means the Board of Supes is going to have to muster up eight votes to override his veto. Might it happen? We'll see at the end of next month. In the meantime, expect a slight dial-up in the rhetoric. [SF Examiner]
