Maybe this was inevitable. With Suriya Thai gone from its spot at 25th and Valencia, some — perhaps crotchety, perhaps not — "bitter, mean old man" has painted over the head of the side wall elephant, and presumably finished the job, or will finish the job, after this picture was taken.
