An SFBG editorial comes out strongly against the cylindrical condo tower proposed next to the Transamerica Pyramid, citing "historical perspective." Their argument has its roots in the Transamerica project itself, which at its time took over a block of small merchants, with Redwood Park created as a concession to the city. The Guardian says the condo developer's offer to expand and gift Redwood Park back to the city isn't impressive, given the fact that we would have owned that land to begin with if Transamerica were never built. Transamerica, by the way, being a "different bad project" altogether. Way to reopen old wounds. [SFBG]
