The Mission Antidisplacement Coalition has an alternative to "Save Medjool," the campaign to save the Mission establishment that has for better or worse come under fire for having an illegal rooftop fun-patio. MAC's idea: "Save the Progressive/Historic Latino/a Mission District." That's a lot of slashes, but whatever. Their objection seems to be to "local, well-heeled, developer Gus Murad" himself. Gus owns Medjool and is developing the New Mission Theater and its adjacent condos. Among his many alleged sins: giving "money and gifts to politicians and community leaders to gain their support, thereby compromising their principles." We trust you'd agree that those principles would never have been compromised by nefarious outside forces otherwise. [MAC]
