The lover's tiff between local Transbay authority and the California High Speed Rail Authority has yet to be resolved — the latter wants more trains in the train box, the former says it was blindsided by the sudden demand. Blog to the rescue! An exceptionally detailed post at California High Speed Rail Blog says planners interpreted a proposition too narrowly, as having trains go into the Transbay building itself, which apparently "nobody except the developers really cares about." Their proposed solution: divorce the Transbay Terminal from the actual rail station, connecting the two via underground passage. Upshot: no train box or concourse level needed, and we can also buy bullet trains from Japan. [CA HSR]
