It didn't take long: the official home of the Save Tonga movement is now live, following a good week or so of simmering consternation over the ouster of the Fairmont Hotel's old-time tiki bar, the Tonga Room. As we previously noted, the Fairmont's owners, who plan on turning the whole of the Fairmont Tower into condos, didn't explicitly guillotine the Tonga— it seems plans are still being studied, even though the bamboo kitsch mecca was shuffled off in published schemes. Translation: they probably didn't realize everyone would make a whole thing about it. [Save Tonga, via Laughing Squid]
