Check out the jackhammery action on the second floor— the gash on the old state building at Golden Gate and Polk appeared sometime last week on the top floor, and has since spread downward through the center of the building. There's something a little thrilling about watching a grody old brown-marble building slowly disintegrating day by day — question is, will the shiny new SFPUC building set to go here go up just as briskly, or will we be treated to another eternally empty lot?
