Transbay's Design Lowballed Figures?

New, 1 comment

SocketSite adds to a Chron story today about the potentially obsolete design of the Transbay Terminal. A reader writes in to say, "The consultants hired from SNCF (French rail) said two years ago that the box needed eight HSR tracks and at least six (preferably eight) tracks for Caltrain, in order to have smooth operations and minimal potential delays. The CAHSRA purposely ignored them until now because bringing up a design flaw like that would have threatened winning the votes and getting funding in place." Scandal! Apparently current plans only call for four high-speed rail tracks and two Caltrain tracks. [SocketSite]
