Fun With Oil Rig Cities

New, 4 comments

The Seasteading Institute is putting pen to paper for a totally rad (or crazy) idea: a floating city off the coast of San Francisco. Very excitable planners say floating cities are great places for failed experiments in government, such as making intellectual property communal. More importantly, a prototype could be finished in three years. "One project engineer described the prototype as similar to a cruise ship, but from a distance the cities might look like oil-drilling platforms." But up close, they'll just look like Mission Bay.
