Even more street love: as has been covered before by Streetsblog, Cesar Chavez is getting redone to be an "attractive corridor for people, bikes, and transit that unifies, rather than divides." The Mission's Burrito Justice was on hand to get a taste of what's coming, not to mention their salsa and oranges. The Planning Department's looking to cut traffic down from three car lanes each way to two, and add a 14-foot planted median. Trees will provide much-needed comfort and moral support for pedestrians braving the street, and bike lanes will— well, they'll exist, which is certainly a feat in itself. Following some sewer-rebuilding project, the makeover should start in summer 2010.
