Historic It Is

A couple months ago we couldn't decide if this $1.6 million Victorian in Alamo Square was hideous or historic. Turns out it has a bit of a history behind it, and the Chron's all too happy to tell us about its wild, hippie— er, artistic— days. Think 10-foot crocodile affixed to the front: "With a past as colorful as its ornate facade, the 120-year-old Victorian ... exudes a surprising mix of refinement and irreverence: like a sophisticated, elderly aunt delivering the punch line to an off-color joke with obvious relish and gusto." Or a sophisticated, elderly aunt who wears an inch too much rouge. [SF Gate]
