The San Francisco Police Department may plop down a new 265,000 square foot, $200M police headquarters at Third and Mission Rock, just south of the upcoming Seawall Lot 337 development. The project could also house a police station and a fire station, and would open 2014 at the earliest. Says a project manager: "Our instinct is that we could do a really architecturally excellent and strong civic building there." In other Mission Bay news, the third phase of the 260-unit apartment complex Avalon is set to open in May, "under budget and ahead of schedule." Nice to hear. [SF Business Times]
