The decision on a Haight moratorium on new head shops— the tie-dyed havens of tobacco water pipes and rolling papers— is on hold for a couple more weeks. In the meantime, the story's gone national with the Associated Press, which quotes some local color: "I think there are too few heads [sic] shops in the city. I like hippies. We need more. And head shops help to generate hippies." Bonus: a Curbed post on the topic gets some quote love: "Under the headline 'What's He Smoking,' a local blogger mused that the supervisor's intervention might 'kill Haight-Ashbury's flavor — yes, that sweet, sweet flavor.' " Heh. [AP]
