Watermark on the Tracks

New, 7 comments

An anonymous tipster frenzy at SocketSite points to some fallout from the high speed rail authority's proposed alternative to going into the Transbay Transit Center: demolishing the Watermark! Terminating in a "Beale Street wing" instead of the transit center proper on 1st and Mission would require the authority, according to a presentation dated Dec. 8, to "demolish residential high-rise building" — the Watermark at 501 Beale, built in 2005. But all's not lost yet! According to another even more plugged, even more in, tipster, the map's old, and the building will stay, but it might lose its parking and pool. Harsh.
