"Defenestration," the endearingly psychedelic furniture art project embedded in the Hugo Hotel, has gotten a stay of execution. The decrepit building on 6th and Howard went to San Francisco Redevelopment Agency control after its owners were forced to sell it in an eminent domain battle. But the agency's not quite ready to call in the jackhammers, so they've decided to let the sofas stay. Which, after all, is probably an easier thing to do than to get rid of them.
