Thom Mayne, designer of SoMa's bent-metal Federal Building and big-name architect of Morphosis, has been appointed to the President's Committee on the Arts and the Humanities. Mayne's the only practicing architect on the committee, and has been appointed along with such names as Yo-Yo Ma, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Edward Norton.
