Just 'Cause to "Just Cause"

Rent control in San Francisco's reserved for buildings built in 1979 or before — built after that and tenants are out of luck. Or put another way, landlords are free to raise rents as they please, and also evict tenants without, as they say, "just cause." That's why a supervisor has proposed an ordinance that would create a list of 15 just causes for which landlords can legally evict, such as failure to pay rent. It's not rent control, but it makes it a little harder to evict. One landlord's take: "another solution in search of a problem." [City Insider]
