North Beach Library to Be Saved?

In the save-or-kill discussion of the North Beach library branch, the answer as of Wednesday afternoon was "save." The Historic Preservation Commission voted 5 to 2 to "start the process" of preserving five of the seven perhaps historic libraries, North Beach's included. That, however, does not preclude the new branch that the city's library system is determined to build— it is, conveniently enough, not located on the same site.
