And the Winner Is...

San Francisco Beautiful, a group currently dedicated to nipping the Market Street billboard proposal in the bud, announced their 2009 Beautification Awards last week. Among the winners stands one particularly notable name: the embattled San Francisco Waterfront Partners, would-be developer of 8 Washington. Of course, it wasn't anything like a preemptive Nobel: they won for their refurbishment of piers 1 1/2, 3, and 5. Another noteworthy prizewinner: "the passage of Prop J," which brought us the Historic Preservation Commission. [City Insider]
