Preservation: Now a War?

New, 2 comments

Over news of the to-be-preserved North Beach library, the Chronicle jumps into the trenches in what they call the city's "next urban war." On one side, "a panel of architects in untucked shirts and spiky hair" (the preservationists), and on the other, everyone else, the Chron included. Envisioned now is a bleak dystopia run by sentient robots where "swaths of the South of Market and Mission districts could be locked up in the name of architectural appearance, vastly limiting growth and change in areas experiencing new life." We hear fightin' words. [SF Gate, previously]
