Rebirth of the bombed-out shitshow that is North Beach's cavernous Pagoda Theater moved an expected step closer to reality yesterday with the approval of the Planning Commission. It's good news for developer Joel Campos, who sees a day when this hulking old beast is transformed into 17 condos and a giant restaurant. Next up: opponents take this fight to the full Board of Supervisors, which has the honor of the final say.
